DeckLink Studio 2 replaces current model DeckLink Studio and adds 10-bit HDMI capture and playback, while keeping the system price at €545.
Targeting post and broadcast applications, DeckLink Studio 2 features independent connections for SDI, HDMI, analogue component, S-Video and composite video, allowing various types of external video equipment to remain connected without re-cabling. DeckLink Studio also includes SDI and HDMI connections that switch between SD and HD, as well as an SD only output via a built in hardware down-converter.
The built-in 10-bit hardware down-converter is selectable between letterbox, anamorphic 16:9 and centre cut 4:3 modes, and operates when running in all HD video formats as well as in capture and playback modes.
Because DeckLink Studio 2 is designed for professionals who have many generations of video equipment, it includes audio connectivity that supports older broadcast decks such as Betacam SP. DeckLink Studio 2 includes 4 channels of balanced analogue audio, as well as 2 channels of AES/EBU digital audio.
In related news, Blackmagic Design announced availability of DeckLink 7.3, a free update for DeckLink customers for Windows, Mac OS X 10.6 and now Linux.
Included in this software release is the Media Express 2.0 public beta, which is an update with DPX support, playlists and a new interface that’s identical between Mac OS X, Windows and Linux platforms. For customers using advanced 1080 progressive HD video standards, DeckLink 7.3 updates the software in the DeckLink HD Extreme 3 model with support for 1080p50, 1080p59.94 and 1080p60.
DeckLink 7.3 for Mac OS X supports more new features recently introduced in Final Cut Pro 7. These include support and easy setups for ProRes 4:4:4:4 and Red workflow. DeckLink 7.3 for Windows includes support for Fusion x64 as well as performance improvements.
