Ultra fast downloads for your PSP console

  • A DVD player on your computer

  • A USB cable connecting your computer to your precious PSP
  • A 512Mb Pro Duo memory stick (this is a requirement because of the capacity of your mp4 video you want to transfer)
  • A PSP video converter like PSP X Studio which will allow you to convert (re-encode) your videos to MP4 format an transfer them to your PSP with the push of a button.

Next thing to do, after you check listed those items, is to Rip the DVD and save it to your computer! Follow the instructions of your riping application and save the the video to your hard disk. Please ensure that you have appropriate free space on your hard disk!

Then it is time for you to transcode (re-encode) the video into mp4 format. Again choose the appropriate settings on your encoding application and hit the encode / start button!

Keep in mind:

  • If your source is 16:9 sources, you may also use non-standard size of 368×208 (or 416×176, 320×176, 384×160, 480×160 and 400×192). Note that the PSP screen has a resolution of 480×272, but for movie playback, width x height must not exceed 76800 pixels, so the smaller sizes listed above have to be used. Note that no matter the non-standard resolution used, the picture will be always scaled to the full 16:9 PSP screen size.

  • If your source is 2.35;1 you must prior reverse it to 16:9 by using black bars.
  • For 4:3 sources, always use the standard 320×240 resolution. To gain a little quality if you don’t mind for the bigger filesize, you may use a video bitrate of 400 kbps.

In a few minutes (or hours) the re-encoding will finish!

Now it is time to learn how to put your favorite video into the PSP.

Actually it is so simple…You need to add a new folder on your Memory Stick named, MP_ROOT. Under the MP_ROOT folder add a sub-folder named 100MNV01. This is where you copy your MP4 videos and their accompanying thumbnail files (*.THM).

Now it is time to enjoy your favorite video on your PSP where ever you may be!
