Creating the First Video Footage of Abraham Lincoln
I read an article on StudioDaily.com about Ray Downing’s new project. The guy created the first full motion cg president Abraham Lincoln.
It all started as an off-hour project in studio Macbeth but it turned to a full documentary as the History Channel licensed some of Studio Macbeth’s recreated imagery (movie clips and pics). It was a tedious project – based entirely on keyframe animation (not motion capture). The 3D model of Lincoln was created using Autodesk Maya and Pixologic ZBrush.
Downing is already working on a similar, follow-up project dealing with a different historical figure.
The documentary will be broadcasted on The History Channel on 16 Feb 2009.
